Each car company has a different strategy for supporting their customers and distributing Gracenote database updates for their vehicles.
If your project was very recently manufactured, it was also very recently added to the Gracenote database. Most vehicles do not have the onboard internet connection capabilities required to connect to Gracenote's extremely large database each time a CD is inserted into the car's player. Only a very small fraction of vehicles have this capability. Most car players are programmed to store only a small portion of the Gracenote database's library into the computer's memory.
Since hundreds of albums are added to the Gracenote database weekly, the information from Gracenote's database that is already stored in your vehicle's computer memory can very quickly go out of date, and some updates may not yet be reflected in your vehicle, even though those changes have been made in Gracenote's database.
